Household tips to keep your clay tennis shoes clean!

Are you a tennis player who worries that your clay tennis shoes will quickly become dirty and worn during the clay season? Worry no more! We have gathered some great household tips to help you keep your shoes in top condition. These simple tips are both cost-effective and easy to do at home.

  1. The toothbrush is your best friend: An old toothbrush is perfect for cleaning the grit from your tennis shoes. Wet the toothbrush with some lukewarm water (a little soapy water if your shoes are very dirty) and gently scrub away the dirt. Be sure to get into all the nooks and crannies.

  2. The washing machine saves the day: To remove stubborn stains and give your shoes a good clean, you can wash them in the machine. Remove the laces and insoles, and place the shoes in a laundry bag. Then wash them in cold water with a little detergent. Let them air dry completely before using them again.

  3. Vinegar to get rid of bad smell: If your shoes have developed an unpleasant smell, you can use vinegar to get rid of it. Mix equal parts of vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray the inside of your shoes. Let them air dry thoroughly outdoors, preferably in the sun, to get rid of any remaining odor.

  4. Take care of the insoles: The soles of your tennis shoes can also use some love. Use a cloth to clean them with soapy water. Then rinse them off and let them dry thoroughly before putting them back in your shoes.

  5. Keep the shoe bag fresh! Make sure your shoe bag is kept clean from grit. After you finish playing, knock the grit out of your shoes before putting them back in. Shake out the shoe bag regularly to make sure there is no grit left in it. Clean it a few times during clay season. It usually only takes a damp cloth to remove the grit. When clay season is over, don't forget to clean your shoe bag before you start using it for your hard court shoes.

By following these simple household tips, you will be able to keep your clay tennis shoes in excellent condition throughout the season. Whether you have bought new shoes for the season or are trying to freshen up your old ones, these tips are both simple to implement and effective. So take care of your shoes and enjoy a great clay season without worrying about dirty shoes!
